Abstract

Digital transformation has become one of the most important factors influencing the effectiveness of higher education systems worldwide. In Uzbekistan, significant reforms have been implemented under the framework of the Digital Uzbekistan–2030 Strategy to digitalize university management, teaching processes, and research activities. This study aims to examine the relationship between digitalization and research productivity in higher education institutions. Data from selected universities in Uzbekistan covering the period 2019–2024 were analyzed. Research productivity was measured through the number of Scopus-indexed publications, citation counts, and participation in research projects, while digitalization was assessed through the implementation of learning management systems, electronic management systems, and digital library services. The findings reveal a positive relationship between digitalization and research productivity. Universities with higher levels of digital adoption demonstrate stronger research performance and greater academic visibility. The study contributes to the growing literature on digital transformation in higher education and provides practical implications for policymakers and university administrators.
